It took some time, but he finally had saved enough for a pig. The pig cost him 50,000 MWK (about $48.00 USD). He raised the pig, but realized he could make more money with chickens, so he sold it for 60,000 MWK.
Interesting Fact: George took 30,000 MWK and bought 60 eggs which he incubated and eventually had 58 chicks. With his additional savings he had money to feed the chicks. In December 2022 they started laying eggs.
George was collecting 30 eggs a day so he started recording his earnings. He made 159,000 MWK in January 2023, 139,500 MWK in February, sold some chicks in March and made 90,000 MWK. In April he sold all the chickens for 7,000 MWK each. Less expenses, George made a profit of 400,000 MWK ($388.00 USD) in just a few months.
Next he bought 70 chicks and two pigs, and is starting the process over again. With his additional income he has been able to send two of his children to secondary school. George bought a solar water pump so he can water his crops at night. The pump uses less water and is better for the crops.
George wants Watts of Love to come back next year so we can see him with his motor bike which is his next big dream.
